A political note

I had forgotten where I had said this, but apparently it wasn't here.

In the wrap-up of heated rhetoric that swirled around the Terri Schiavo case, I finally got an insight into what is the common thread that drives the far-right agenda on a series of issues that have to do with life and death. Abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, war, and in this last instance, Terri Schiavo. It goes as follows.

"In any matter of life and death, it is immoral and should be illegal for the decision to be made by an individual. It is always moral and right for that same decision to be in the hands of the government."

The Right trusts government more than people, when it comes to life-and death decisions. Look at it. Works on all the issues. Only, that in the Schiavo case, the individuals who were not to be trusted were judges at the state and federal level.

We now return to our regularly scheduled journaling.
